Description
Morgan Winery is a family owned and operated winery located in Salinas, CA. Morgan produces Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Rhone Blends from the SLH and Monterey. The Cellar Worker assists with all wine production duties under the direction of the Winemaker. This is a permanent, full-time position. Flexible work hours including some evening and weekend work is required seasonally (harvest and bottling). We are looking for a candidate with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a drive for quality. Opportunity for advancement within our organization exists with this position. Key Qualifications: · Prior cellar experience in a small to medium sized winery · Forklift certified · Valid driver’s license with good driving record · Transportation to get to and from work · At least 21 years of age · Legal US work status Physical and Work Environment Requirements: · Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop, and crouch repeatedly · Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods · Must be able to lift 50lbs repeatedly · Must be able to work in confined spaces and high places · Work environment may be performed indoors and outdoors · Work environment may include cold/hot temperatures, wet surfaces, etc. · Work environment may include chemicals that require protective equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.) Duties: · Forklift-transportation of barrels, tanks and cased goods between warehouse spaces · General cellar work- sanitation of all equipment, wine transfers, racking, filtration, topping · Harvest - grape receipt and processing, pressing, fermentation management, filling barrels, nutrient/yeast additions · Bottling- set up, sanitation, palletizing cases, etc. Desired Abilities: · Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions with acute attention to detail · Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high safety standards · Written and verbal communication skills · Basic math skills · Spanish language ability strongly preferred · Interest in wine and the winemaking process is a plus, including ability to detect flaws and attributes in wine We offer a competitive hourly rate along with a generous benefit package, including 401K, health and dental insurance, and ample paid time off.
