Join us for a FREE full body HIIT workout at the Whirligig Park in Wilson, North Carolina! Are you ready to burn calories with a fun and empowering workout, unlike you have ever experienced before?! Join Maya Evans at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park on Saturday, September 4th with a total body HIIT workout in celebration of the last day of the Wilson Farmers & Artisan Market and the start of September's National Self-Improvement Month. This FREE community event will inspire you to grow your potential and reach a new level of strength, both mentally and physically. A Wilson native, Maya Evans, was a two-time state champion in track and school record holder in the 400m dash at Fike High School. Maya currently lives in Miami, Florida where she practices as a certified school psychologist and personal trainer. She created her business platform "Mental and Muscle," to combine her two passions of mental and physical health. She leds with the goal of empowering community members to actively work to strengthen both their mind and body. HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) workouts use short interval circuits to burn calories, build strength, tone muscle, and increase endurance. Each class will be approximately 40 minutes including a dynamic warm-up and cool down stretch. Exercise combinations include bodyweight strength and endurance exercises, kickboxing, core training, and more! At 9:00am, the Low Impact HIIT class will begin. This class will utilize lower impact HIIT exercises, meaning there will be less jumping, slower movements, and a few more breaks. Please keep in mind though, low impact does not mean it will be easy! :) At 10:00am, the Advanced HIIT class will begin. This class will utilize challenging combinations of HIIT exercises with frequent jumping, shorter breaks, and quicker movements. While both workouts are designed to push you out of your comfort zone, please attend the class that you feel would be most appropriate for your current health and fitness level. Participants only need to bring water, a yoga mat (if preferred), and a growth mindset! Before and after the workout, you are also encouraged to browse the farmers, artists, and other local vendors at the Wilson Farmers & Artisan Market from 8am to 12pm!
