Two generations of San Diego Latina activists share history and experiences of Latinos in San Diego The League is honored to have two women who have been central to the Latino/a community in San Diego speak with us about the history and importance of Latinos in San Diego. Maria Garcia is a retired school principal and historian who has just written a book entitled We Made San Diego which tells the stories of Latino community leaders and activists from the 1960s on. Nancy Maldonado is the President and CEO of the Chicano Federation of San Diego County who has been named one of San Diego's most influential people by the San Diego Business Journal. This event will be the first in-person, indoor event for the League since February 2020. In addition to having limits on the number of attendees, the League will expect all attendees to wear masks and provide proof of vaccination or a recent Covid test.
