NEWTON, MA — Newton Police Chief and Mayor Ruthanne Fuller swore in five new officers and promoted two others at a ceremony on Monday. The department's newly sworn-in members include Officers Elmer Acuna, Joseph Cunning, Robert Dragone, Isaiah Jellinek, and Andrei Vazhenin. In addition to gaining new members, Lieutenant Kevin Rudd and Sergeant Joseph Brooks have both been promoted. "Best of luck to you all and stay safe!" said the department in a Twitter post.
