New River Middle School is cleaning up our backyard as part of the 36th Annual International Coastal Clean up Day! Mission POSSIBLE...CLEAN OUR BEACH! Be a part of the effort to clean our beaches, meet with friends and family, and enjoy a grab-n-go box lunch.Saturday, September 18, 20219:00am - 12:00pm(noon)International Coastal Clean Day is celebrated around the world and people will be cleaning up their beaches across the globe as part of the 36th Annual event.  If you can't make it to our event, find a location near you at the Ocean Conservancy website. Join the effort to take care of our oceans where you live.  https://oceanconservancy.org/trash-free-seas/international-coastal-cleanup/clean-up-locations/ *Get clean up supplies at the Marina Pavilion or the LEATHERBACK PAVILION (parking lot #4 or #5). You can clean up anywhere along the coastline....then come join us for a snack and meet up with friends.  NMRS group will be at the LEATHERBACK Pavilion (parking lot #4 or #5) for a everyone to join and grab a box lunch following clean up for our families. Our Friends of NRMS & Community partners including: Divers Direct, Marine Resolve Group, Celebration of the Seas, and Mission Resolve Foundation are sponsoring.  Divers Direct will also be providing some fun giveaway prizes to our participates. *Free Parking for Beach Clean-up participants.****This is a community /family event for our New River Shark Family. Please no unsupervised children.**Bring sunscreen, hats, and a water bottle. If you have your own clean up supplies, please feel free to bring as extra...a bucket and garden gloves work great! As part of reducing our trash...PLEASE bring your OWN REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE. We will have water available to refill!  FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? When entering the park, let the gate attendant know you are participating in Beach Clean up with New River Middle School.  We will be located at the OSPREY Pavilion, follow signs for parking to LEATHERBACK Pavilion, parking LOT #4 or #5. Free park entrance for all Beach Clean up participants.  What can I bring into the event? Be prepared to be out in the sun cleaning up trash...bring a refillable water bottle, sunscreen, hat, etc.  If you have clean up supplies: gloves, trash picker, bucket....BRING them to save on making MORE trash. We will have trash bags and gloves, but if you have your OWN supplies, please bring.  BRING REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE....help us limit the trash we create! How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please email Ms. O'Fallon (Magnet Coordinator) at [email protected] with any questions or communicate with your child's science/marine science teachers.  If they can't answer your questions, they will contact Ms. O'Fallon. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Printed tickets are NOT necessary, but on please have your CONFIRMATION on your phone.  All participates NEED to REGISTER. Make sure to have accurate number of participates for your group, so we can ensure we are able to accommodate the correct number box lunches. Can we stay at the park after event? Yes, you have FREE parking for the event, so you can STAY at the park and enjoy some time at the beach with your family. Bring your beach stuff and enjoy the beach area. We have to clean and leave the pavilion, but you can still enjoy the beach on your own, as a family. Can I drop off my child to participate and pick up later? No unsupervised children can participate and be part of the event. We can not have students participate without adult supervision. Please understand that this event in part of NRMS community involvement, but we are not responsible for students. Thank you!
