Description

Reimagining Our Relationship to Place: How we decolonize design thinking to inspire collective well-being This roundtable conversation facilitated by Ronda Lee Chapman will invite attendees to think critically about how we define community, how we honor ancestral lands we inhabit and enjoy, and the ways we interact with the inherent politics of place. Come ready to engage in a thoughtful exchange designed to inspire us to transform into bearers of right relations to the places where we live. Doors open at 5:30; event begins at 6:00 pm. Light hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided. Ronda Lee Chapman has been intentionally and spiritually active in outdoor spaces for the last three decades as an enthusiast, advocate, and policy influencer. A “sustainability generalist,” she has been leading efforts on climate resilience, water infrastructure, and material resource management. As a skilled facilitator, Ronda derives great joy convening leaders who are committed to the possibilities of equitable communities rooted in healing. In her current role as Equity Director at The Trust for Public Land, she currently advises all thirty offices nationwide in their work to bring parks and nature to the places and people that can most benefit as a matter of health and justice. Ultimately, she really loves bringing people together, finding ways to connect values, opening doors for new insights and challenges. A D.C. native, Ronda considers herself “bi-coastal” having spent roughly fifty percent of her lifetime living in urban and mountain spaces, giving her a tapestry of experiences that motivate her thinking daily. ***COVID-19 Safety Precautions: This event will be held in a covered, OPEN-AIR VENUE. Spatial distancing will be encouraged. Please bring a face covering. Ronda Lee Chapman is a D.C. native and currently serves as Equity Director for The Trust for Public Land. The Chattanooga Design Studio is an independent, non-profit community resource that works to enhance Chattanooga’s quality of life by educating the community about, advocating for and facilitating excellent urban design.
