Summerfest Will Provide Its Own Shuttle Service September

MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee World Festival Inc. announced Tuesday that it has hired a private operator to offer bus services to Summerfest. Vectour Group, a bus charter based in Alabama, will offer shuttle transportation during the nine days of the "Big Gig," Sept. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18, Milwaukee World Festival said in a statement. The service won't run during the Wednesday weekend kick-off concerts at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Sept. 1, 8 and 15. The bus service will operate nine days of the festival starting at 11 a.m., the company said. It will run throughout the day at every 30 minutes. Summerfest will use three park and ride lot locations: College Avenue – Both lots on College Avenue at Interstate 94State Fair Park - I-94, S. 76th Street & W. KearneyBrown Deer – East Brown Deer Road, west of Interstate 43 Fairgoers will be picked up and dropped off just west of the Summerfest Mid-Gate, the company said. Round-trip fare is $12, the company said. Riders are encouraged to pre-purchase ride tickets at Summerfest's website or at a Summerfest kiosk when they arrive. Riders who paid will get a wristband. The wristband is mandatory to show when getting back on the bus to the parking ride lot, the company said. "The buses are back - we know that many of our fans utilize bus transportation to get to Summerfest and we wanted to provide them with a convenient and affordable option to attend the festival. Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. is organizing this service and have secured a national company, Vectour Group, which has run shuttles for major events nationwide to offer this service during Summerfest" Milwaukee World Festival Inc. President and CEO Don Smiley said. The company decided to hire a private operator after the Milwaukee County Transit System said it wasn't able to provide shuttles in June.
