NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Jersey man was arrested Tuesday for the second time in nearly two months in connection with a fraudulent scheme involving Best Buy stores, according to police.
North Haven police arrested Viktor Nagy, 34, of Lakewood, New Jersey, on July 4 in connection with the fraudulent return of computer electronics at Best Buy. During the course of the arrest, officers saw several boxes of similar computer electronics within his vehicle police said.
Detectives obtained a search warrant to examine the contents of the boxes and an additional investigation into Nagy was launched, according to police.
Nagy is accused of buying computer hard drives from Best Buy locations in other states, "replacing them with older, less quality, or smaller sized hard drives, repackaging them, and attempting to return them at Best Buy locations in states different from where he originally purchased them," police said.
Nagy was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
