OAK FOREST, IL — Whether it's preparing for the start of a fall project or wrapping up a summer one, Labor Day weekend in Oak Forest is sure to be a popular time to get some stuff done around the house. Many home improvement and hardware stores in and around Oak Forest know this, as nearly all will be open for either regular or extended hours during the end-of-summer three-day weekend. National Coatings & Sups in Oak Forest will be closed on Labor Day. Nearby, local hardware stores such as Orland Park's Rockler Woodworking and Hardware Labor Day hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ferguson Plumbing Supply in Tinley Park will be closed this holiday. Home Depot stores will be open, encouraging homeowners to take on backyard projects before temperatures start dropping. The Atlanta-based national home improvement store chain has sales posted on its website, and offers tips on starting do-it-yourself fall projects. (Summer doesn't actually end until Sept. 22).
