Description

LA GRANGE PARK, IL — La Grange Park recently put up banners that include the American flag. But a resident pointed out that the flag is positioned incorrectly under flag etiquette rules. "Can someone please help ensure that future representations of the American flag in La Grange Park are done correctly?" resident Mark Magajne said in a comment on Patch. "Let's treat our American flag better." On its website, the National Flag Foundation states, "When hanging the Flag against a wall, vertically or horizontally, the Flag's union (stars) should be at the top, to the Flag's own right and the observer's left." In La Grange Park, the stars are to the observer's right. The banners are on light poles on La Grange Park's 31st Street. In an email Monday, Village Manager Julia Cedillo said she saw the comments about the flags on Patch. "We are checking with our banner company to see what can be done," she said.
