POMONA, CA — A homeless encampment near the railroad tracks in Pomona contained a trove of stolen goods worth more than $100,000, the Pomona Police Department announced Tuesday. According to investigators, the truckloads of goods were stolen from a Union Pacific Railroad train. Members of the Pomona Homeless Encampment Action Response Team were cleaning up encampments near the railroad tracks over the weekend when they discovered the loot near Humane Way and Temple Avenue. They contacted the railroad and confirmed that the items were stolen from Union Pacific, according to police. "The recovered items included vehicle tires, small kitchen appliances and fixtures, major appliances, auto related parts, clothing, shoes, cleaning supplies, baby related items and various household items," said Pomona police Sgt. Brad Paulson. "The property was recovered and turned over to the Union Pacific Railroad."
