Press release from Meridian Community College: August 9, 2021 Members of the Meridian Community College Paramedic Class of 2021 received their pins during a special ceremony held in the campus Tommy E. Dulaney Center. Timothy Blackwell, Kasenthia Bloodsaw, Onedaro Dixon, Thomas Fox, James Joseph, Jared Maiden, and Amber Reece received their pins from Ben White, the lead paramedic instructor. Another class member, Cameron Boggan, was honored posthumously. His parents received his pin. "These folks persevered; they prevailed," said MCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner when he welcomed the socially distanced audience. "They decided they were going into a profession that required close contact. That says something about their character, their motivation, and drive. It makes me proud to say that I get to be a part of this ceremony, so congratulations," he said. White echoed Dr. Huebner's comments and added he asked the students to give him "one year for the rest of your life; one year to devote your attention to what we can provide you to change the rest of your life. All we did was open up a door, and you walked through it." Boggan was also posthumously recognized as Paramedic of the Year award recipient.
