Chris Baikauskas and Cara Pastere, Principals of CHSD170's Jefferson and Lincoln-Gavin Schools, and Matthew Lungaro, Principal of St. Agnes School, have received school supply donations from Frankfort's historic downtown businesses through the auspices of the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce. The supplies will be distributed to students attending each of the schools. "Mark Lungaro of Redtail Market reached out to inform us that Frankfort's businesses had collected supplies to support and benefit our students in Chicago Heights," Baikauskas said. "Of course, Cara, Matt, and I were thrilled to receive the supplies and will put them to good use." Pastere joined Baikauskas in praising the bequest, saying, "It was wonderful to see a neighboring business district reach out to support our Chicago Heights' students and our community." "This gesture goes beyond providing supplies for our students. It underscores the commitment of the businesses of Frankfort to improve the life experience of the children of the communities that it serves," she added. The donations, of course, would not have been possible without the generosity of the Frankfort business community. "This event was such a great success because of the support from our community and the downtown store owners," Mark Lungaro stated. "Together, we have been able to help a lot of local kids get ready for the school year." Lungaro's brother, Matthew, closed by indicating that the students of the schools would put the supplies to good use. "Sometimes we take everyday things for granted, like pencils and pens. It's when they don't work, or we don't have them when we need them, it becomes very frustrating," he said. "I really appreciate the generosity that Mark Lungaro of the fantastic Redtail Market and the businesses of Historic Frankfort have shown to Saint Agnes School and our neighboring schools here in Chicago Heights."
