Description

CARLSBAD, CA — All students enrolled in the Carlsbad Unified School District can eat breakfast and lunch for free for the entire 2021-22 school year. Full healthy meals will be available to all students, with no action required of parents – students can participate in the program without caretakers submitting an application or paying a fee, the district said in a letter. However, students will still need to purchase snacks, and parents can add money to their child's account for them to do so. School meals are free for all students this year. Please add funds to your student's SchoolCafé account if they'd like to purchase snacks. #cusdlearns #proudtobeCUSD pic.twitter.com/K66M7rCAjP— Carlsbad Unified Schools (@CarlsbadUSD) August 23, 2021 Any parent who would still like to apply for free or reduced lunch status can do so on the SchoolCafe website here. The Carlsbad USD is participating in National School Lunch Program, a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions that provide nutritionally balanced lunches to children each school day. It is also a participant in the School Breakfast Program, which provides reimbursement to states to operate nonprofit breakfast programs in schools and residential childcare institutions. Local school food authorities operate the program in schools, according to the program's website.
