Visual Philosophy is an art studio, creative community, and artist incubator located in the heart of Silicon Valley on The Alameda in San Jose. We are a family-owned business that makes art a priority in our day to day lives, community, and education. Visual Philosophy 1065 The Alameda San Jose, CA 95126 STUDIO SIZES & PRICING: We have studios that are 10’ x 12’ ($490 / mo*), 10’ x 18’ ($670 / mo*) *Listed Studio pricing is for one occupant. Up to 2 renters can share a studio with an additional $25 per person per month. Currently, we have a promotion going for 1 month free with a 12-month lease! STUDIO RENTERS PERKS: As a studio renter at Visual Philosophy you will have 24/7 access to your studio. You will also have limited* access to facilities (*limited access is determined by whether or not classes, workshops, or events are taking place in the public spaces). OUR FACILITIES Our facilities are made up of the Printshop, the Hot Shop and the Woodshop. The Printshop includes presses for lithography, etching monotype, woodcut, letterpress, and screen printing as well as large tables, a washout sink, an exposure unit, drawers of type, and paper cutters. The printshop also has a computer lab with Adobe Suite, a laser cutter, a Cricut cutter, and 3D printers. The Hot Shop includes forges for blacksmithing, hydraulic press, anvils, metal band saw and chop saw, and belt grinders. We have welding tools for MIG, TIB, Oxy-acetylene, stick, and spot welding, as well as a large steel table. There are a throwing wheel and a kill as well as tools for metal casting in sand with aluminum or bronze, flasks, and Green Sand. Finally, our Woodshop includes a table saw, band saw, compound miter saw, drill press, scroll saw, planer/joiner, router, shaper, belt sanders, and hand tools. In addition to access to our 3 shops, renters also get 20% of all classes provided by our non-profit arm School of Visual Philosophy. Renters can also join the Visual Philosophy Guild which offers its members professional development workshops, 2 exhibitions per year at Visual Philosophy, and the opportunity to sell work through the Visual Philosophy Guild online shop. As a renter, you will have the ability to teach up to 3 people at once in your private studio. Larger groups are allowed but must go through Visual Philosophy.
