$25 p hour/ $200 p day - shoveling up a backyard

Work in a team of 6 people, hand-shoveling up the top layer of soil from a residential backyard in Salt Lake City and depositing it into contractor bags. The job will take anywhere from 1-3 days, starting on Tuesday, Aug 24th at 8AM. The job is unique because the top layer of soil is lightly contaminated with raccoon feces. To take appropriate precaution we will follow CDC recommendations for cleaning "raccoon latrines," and PPE will be provided free by the homeowner/supervisor at the beginning of each work day (a fresh Tyvek suit, N95 respirator mask, disposable nitrile gloves, disposable work booties). The worker will be required to follow a commonsense (but particular) protocol to avoid recontamination of cleaned/shoveled areas (for example - don't step in the "dirty" area and back into clean area), and to ensure worker safety (for example - don't remove your mask and touch your mouth with your dirty work gloves). Like I said, pretty commonsense. Although the protocol is very simple, the success of the job (cleaning the area) entirely hinges on adherence to it. Failure to maintain the protocol will result in immediate termination, and the worker will be paid for that day's work at the agreed hourly rate, prorated to the minute they were terminated. More complete direction will be provided on-the-job. Qualifications for the job: - The ability to stick to the simple protocol - The ability to follow directions - The ability to hand-shovel soil (heavy), in the sun, for an 8 hour workday. - Clean shaven face, so that the elastomeric N95 respirator can achieve and maintain a proper seal. This is not optional. A mustache is ok if it doesn't interfere with the seal (can be completely contained by the mask.) - Professional demeanor: show up on time, sober, and respectful of your fellow co-workers. Homophobic/racist/sexist/bullying etc. speech won't be tolerated. Working conditions: A rustic but private outdoor bucket potty, a garden hose wash-up station, and bottled water will be provided. Lunch will not be provided. Payout at the end of each workday via Venmo or Paypal.
