Essential Functions and Responsibilities – Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, a Laborer does all of the hand work required, according to the Superintendent’s specifications, to set up and maintain the golf course and club grounds for play and presentation such as but not limited to the following: 1. Rakes sand bunkers using hand and machine rakes for a smooth and uniform finish. 2. Does teeing ground and greens servicing, ensuring a clean and even playing surface. 3. Cleans restrooms to ensure sanitation. 4. Changes holes on the green for play. 5. Reads, understands and follows step by step operating procedures outlined in a machine’s Operator Manual 6. Fluid checks, inspects and corrects all machinery and tool deficiencies prior to use. 7. Drives engine and battery powered carts and vehicles, standard and automatic. 8. Cares for, safely operates, handles according to manufacturer and Superintendent’s specifications, cleans, monitors performance of and stops to report discrepancies for small engine equipment used such as walking mowers, blowers, line trimmers, edgers, hover mowers and chainsaws. V. Additional Responsibilities 1. Does all hand work for any project or task such as shoveling, raking, picking, cutting, trimming, trenching, leveling, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, chopping, digging, lifting, carrying, filling and compacting. 2. Works and operates equipment in a safe and courteous fashion. 3. Performs other duties as required. VI. Working Conditions 1. Work will routinely occur outdoors, in the field over flat, sloped and undulating terrain. 2. The employee will be exposed to dust, machinery exhaust and odors and flying debris. 3. Must be available for work from 5:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Monday – Friday, and from 5:00 a.m. until complete on one day of the weekend to be determined by Management. Additional work days and time will be required on occasion and for Holidays. 4. The position requires regular and predictable attendance. VII. Mental Demands - This position requires a mindfulness for safety and courtesy, awareness, alertness, anticipation, cooperation, memory retention, attention to detail, taking responsibility for machine and tool care and operation, common sense and self evaluation and correction. VIII. Physical Demands - - While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, see, talk, smell and hear. The employee is required to reach with arms and hands, turn to observe, bend and pick up, climb and balance; bend over, kneel and crawl; and regularly lift 50 lbs. The employee must meet vision requirements of close, distant, peripheral and depth perception IX. Qualification Requirements 1. Skills/Knowledge - The position requires speaking, reading and understanding English; reading and understanding equipment operator manuals; driving manual or standard transmission; driving or walking in straight and proportionately curved lines and communicate effectively. 2. Education – Must have a high school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED). X. Work Environment - An employee in this position is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions, hazards associated with golf courses like flying golf balls and elevated noise levels. XI. Reports To - Assistant Superintendent.
