A hands on introduction to the safe use of the wood lathe. Students will get one-on-one instruction and make their own bottle stopper. In class we will go over the many facets of wood turning and get some hands-on experience on the lathe. Then students will schedule a one-on-one session to make their bottle stopper with instructor. Class Length: 1-1/2 hours Min/max registrations: 1-6 Prerequisites: None If you'd like a 50% scholarship discount (no questions asked) or would like to see the class offered at another day/time (Wed-Mon, 4-6pm preferred), email the instructor at [email protected]. Instructor bio: Rick has been turning for over 20 years and has served as a mentor and board member of several local chapters of the American Association of Wood Turners. He currently demonstrates at various art fairs to make tops for kids. He is very interested in furthering your interest in wood turning! Important Information  COVID-19: To keep everyone safe; masks (can provide), hand sanitizing (at entrances), temperature checks and social distancing are required at Makerspace. Maximum class size has been reduced to allow for social distancing.Class fees: All class fees include materials. If you are a current Bellingham Makerspace member or scheduled volunteer you may select the discounted member registration. Some instructors offer scholarship discounts and volunteers may be eligible for training discounts.Cancellations: All classes have a minimum number of participants. If the instructor specified number is not reached 24hrs before the class is scheduled to start, the class will be cancelled and any registrations refunded (Eventbrite fees are non refundable).Refund policy: You may request a refund from Eventbrite no later than 24hrs before the class starts (Eventbrite fees are non refundable). After that point instructors and participants are committed and we won't be able to provide any refunds.Donations: Want to help the financially challenged?, donate any amount to the Bellingham Makerspace Scholarship Fund.
