Description

Come join us on a trip through our unsustainable past so we can learn how to live a more sustainable future! The official launch of the fair trade gallery, “UnFair: The Story of Consumption, Production & Unsustainable Thinking,” is Friday, August 13th. Creators of the gallery, Megan Cortina and Mary Song, two interns of the NYC FTC, take you on a 5-part journey covering industrialization, overproduction, overconsumption, and the solutions fair trade offers. The gallery will educate people on the importance of fair trade and why it’s needed. They’ll understand how fair trade is combatting unsustainable and unethical practices that have been going on for over 200 years. This exhibition is expected to be interactive, educational and entertaining. The NYC Fair Trade Coalition is a grassroots organization that promotes fair trade businesses and retailers in New York City and educates consumers on the importance of fair trade.   It partners with ethically-aligned businesses, retailers, NGOs, and citizens in New York City to host events and engage the public in dialogue. It offers its members advertising support through its social media channels, coordinates sales events, and fosters networking among ethical and fair trade businesses.   Become a member here!
