No longer 'huna' or secret - come listen to the wahipana of Waianae as shared by Kumu Glen Kila of Marae Ha'a Koa. All are welcome!
Some of our friends are coming to Waianae to learn about the wahipanas (storied places) of this area. We begin at Poka'i Bay at 8 AM at the Kaneilio temple and then visit the Kaneana Cave, home of Papa, the Mother, followed by Mauna Lahilahi and a short mountain ridge hike to Kaneikapulena temple.
Please bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes and carpool if possible. Pack a bento lunch to eat afterwards as we will end at 1 PM so you might be hungry afterwards!
We will be outside but please do not come if you have been in contact with anyone with COVD or have symptoms.
Look for people gathering near the Malaeha sign (original name for this area).
Marae Ha'a Koa is a non profit organisation dedicated to education and cultural preservation. They invite not only keiki and parents from the Waianae Wahipana to participate in the cultural programs of Marae Ha‘a Koa, but also our many partners who share our values and help us in protecting our cultural treasures.
