RACC’s Schmidt Training and Technology Center is Offering an In-Person Project Management Training A series of four 5-hour sessions Tuesday September 7- 9:00 am - 2:00 pm; 1/2 hour lunch and two-15 minute breaks Wednesday September 8 - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm; 1/2 hour lunch and two-15 minute breaks Tuesday September 14 - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm; 1/2 hour lunch and two-15 minute breaks Wednesday September 15 - 9:00 am - 2:00 pm; 1/2 hour lunch and two-15 minute breaks This workshop will arm participants with time tested and proven techniques, tools and templates. This enables Project Managers to not only get their teams up and running but also keep the teams on track to complete high quality deliverables on time and at/under budget. The sessions are highly interactive and provide participants with the opportunity to try the techniques on their own projects. Each participant should bring project information to the workshop as we will work on their individual projects. Learning Outcomes Participants will learn how to: create a work breakdown structure, which is a key enabler in creating the Project Planestablish and maintain project sponsorship, individual team member accountability and stakeholder buy in identify, mitigate and control project riskscontrol scope changesorganize successful meetingsOutline for Sessions 1-Review basic project management vocabulary 2-Introduce the activities in each of the Project Management lifecycle process groups as well as the key results of each process group Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and closing3-Compose a project plan which consists of: A work breakdown structureScope and objective statements based on a work breakdown structureCommunications PlanRisk Handling Plan4-Identify the correct processes and templates useful for the participant’s organization for each Project Management lifecycle process 5-Defining effective team building and leadership characteristics 6-Developing templates and techniques to schedule, plan and execute effective project planning, communication and status meetings 7-Identifing the characteristics of successful projects and project teams Participants - How to Ensure Value from this Workshop: Participants will receive a digital copy of all slides and templates.During this workshop you will build project plans for your real-world projects. You need to bring information for one or two current or upcoming projects. You will leave this workshop with a work breakdown structure, a Stakeholder Management Plan, a Communication Plan and a Risk Handling Plan. We will also tackle what’s working and what isn’t working in your current project management process. Bring: Project process documentation for your organization Project specifications, pictures, spreadsheets Project budget information Stakeholder or partner information Project schedules Names of other departments or resources you will need to plan and complete the project Project charter (if available) About the Instructors: Gwenn Carr, a Project Management Professional (PMP®), has been a project manager, consultant and educator for over 30 years. She has worked with many companies in various industries and is the co-author of chapters in "The Field Guide to Project Management." Her interest in improving the skills of project teams grew from her frustration while working with teams who had been assigned to projects and had received no training or guidance. Gary Englehardt, a Project Management Professional (PMP®), has been involved in projects for over 30 years as a project engineer and consultant.
