Person Swindled Out Of $4,000 In Wauwatosa Warrant Scam: Police

WAUWATOSA,WI — Wauwatosa police responded to several calls for service. Here are a few highlights from the police log from Aug. 13 to Aug. 18. A 39-year-old man caused damage to the front entrance of the police department building on Aug. 13 at 1700 N. 116th St. A person stole $1,999 worth of merchandise on Aug. 13 from T-Mobile, 2711 N. Mayfair Road. A 2017 Hyundai Elantra was stolen Aug. 14 from the upper level parking structure of Nordstrom, 2400 N. Mayfair Road. The suspects arrived in a silver Hyundai Elantra and a tan Kia Forte without registration plates. Plice found the stolen car crashed and unoccupied in Milwaukee. A person on Tuesday broke into a rear tailgate of a 2012 Ford F150 parked at Best Buy, 2401 N. Mayfair Road. The person stole a Milwaukee Tool storage bin that contained $1,600 worth of tools. There was no video surveillance of the incident. A person fell victim to a police warrant scam on Tuesday. A 45-year-old man received a phone call from a man claiming to be a "Lt. Anthony Shuckles" with the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department. The caller told the man there was a warrant for his wife's arrest and that he needed to pay money in the form of MoneyPak cards so she wouldn't be arrested. The man bought $4,000 worth of MoneyPak cards and provided the code from the cards to the caller. The man stopped after four cards and called police, who told him it was a scam.
