Danvers Annual Household Hazardous Waste Dropoff Day In September

DANVERS, MA — Danvers will hold its annual hazardous waste collection day on Sept. 18 with several coronavirus-related protocols that will be strictly enforced. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at the Danvers Transfer Station on East Coast Road and is free to town residents. Clean Harbors will assist the collection day as the contractor. Because of the pandemic, this will be a contactless dropoff where all residents are required to stay in their vehicles at all times. Items will be removed from trunks, truck beds or the back of an SUV or van. Items cannot be placed in a passenger seat or backseat of a car. The town said any resident who attempts to exit a vehicle will be asked to leave. All drivers and passengers should wear masks while in the transfer station. Containers, such as gas cans and storage totes, will not be returned. Those dropping off will only be allowed into the transfer station one time on that day and no commercial vehicles will be allowed. Proof of residence is required for free drop-off. Non-residents must pre-register and will be charged. Non-residents can register through [email protected]. Accepted items include fertilizers, pesticides, pool chemicals, art supplies, photography chemicals, antifreeze, waste oil up to five gallons, gasoline, household cleaners, drain cleaners, oil-based paints and stains.
