HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Hempstead Saturday night. According to police, a 28-year-old man was crossing Peninsula Boulevard near West Marshall Street at 11:20 p.m. when he was hit by a 2008 Mercury being driven by a 49-year-old man. The victim suffered severe head and body trauma, police said, and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is in critical condition. Police say the driver remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
