Hi, we have a very darling little black and white male hamster named Blaze. He is approximately 2 years old. He has a nice cage with over 900square inches of space which is really important for hamsters. Surprising they need a lot of space! He has a big quiet wheel that he runs miles on every night. He is a pretty friendly little guy who will climb on your hand for a treat. He is not a good pet for young children as hamsters are fragile and also nocturnal and don’t appreciate being woken up during the day for play time. He is good for gentle older kids which are respectful of animals and he’s quite mellow and will sit in your hand and even groom his whiskers and face if he feels relaxed around you. Hamsters life spans are hard to predict. They say their average lives are 1 1/2 to 2 years old. But some live up to 4 years (we found out after getting Blaze) We also feed him lots of fresh veggies and his cage is big enough to keep him healthy. As of now he looks bright and healthy with no signs of old age. So we are moving to Hawaii and found out that hamsters are not allowed in the state at all as they could wreak havoc on the ecosystem. We are very sad that we can’t bring Blaze and I’m incredibly regretful that I didn’t research properly before deciding to get a hamster. We need a great home for Blaze!
