TYSONS, VA — A sky garden called The Perch is set to open in September as the newest part of the Capital One development in Tysons. The Perch is a 2.5 acre sky garden and park with the Starr Hill Biergarten, Sky Bark dog park and grand lawn. Starr Hill Biergarten will have over 5,000 square feet of outdoor dining and lounge space with an amphitheater and lawn seating. Along with providing park space for the Tysons community and employees, The Perch will have events throughout the year. A sculpture garden and 18-hole putt-putt course are also in the works. The Perch is located atop Capital One Hall, a new venue for Capital One corporate events and performance arts events scheduled to open in October 2021. The sky garden will debut with a three-day music festival called Perchfest. The festival from Sept. 17 to 19 will feature three days of live music, community vendors, family-friendly activities, games and appearances by local personalities. Due to limited space, registration is required. Hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 17, 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sept. 18 and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 19. CDC, state and local health guidance will be observed. The event is free, but donations are suggested to benefit Best Buddies of Northern Virginia and DC, which provides friendships and other opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. "Capital One Center is excited to present Perchfest, the first of many diverse and dynamic events planned for 'The Perch,' a rooftop experience like no other," said Jonathan Griffith, managing director of Capital One Center, in a statement. "We are thrilled to host the community for a fun-filled weekend of live music and entertainment at Starr Hill Biergarten's sky stage, family-friendly activities, a sneak peak inside Tysons' new flagship hotel 'The Watermark' — all while providing the opportunity to support our Perchfest community partner, Best Buddies." To celebrate the opening, Starr Hill Biergarten will release a bespoke beer called Perchfest Session IPA. The brew is described as having a "refreshing citrus hop combined with grapefruit zest" with an ABV of 4.7 percent. It will be on tap all weekend along with other Starr Hill favorites. Live music and a DJ will be provided all weekend. Local bands set to perform are: Pop Rocks, 7 Deadlies, Starting Early, Space Otters, The Roustabouts and Andrew Savoia X Fordson Labs. As part of the festival, boutique nail salon and spa Nothing in Between will offer complimentary chair massages for Perchfest guests on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturday, there will be children's events mid-day such as face painting, superheroes and games on the Great Lawn. My Gym Vienna/Tysons will be on site for a children's music and movement program from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m every half hour on Saturday. Capital One Center partners such as The Watermark Hotel and Capital One Hall will also be on site.
