Shady Grove, Rockville Metro Stations To Close Sept. 11 to Dec. 4

ROCKVILLE, MD — Metro service from Shady Grove station and Rockville station will be suspended from Sept. 11 to Dec. 4 in order to replace the canopy at Rockville station. Free shuttle buses will run from those two stations to Twinbrook station, where riders can get on the metro. Red Line trains will have normal schedules between Glenmont and Twinbrook station only, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority said. The new platform canopy will have the same design as the old one, with these improvements: brighter and more efficient LED lightingnew public service announcement speakersmore passenger information displaysupgraded security cameras MARC and Amtrak trains will operate as usual out of Rockville station. *Commuters* Beginning September 11 through December 4, 2021 there will be no Red Line Metro train service to Rockville and Shady Grove.
