HERNDON, VA — A Friday afternoon fire caused $10,000 in damage to a Herndon area home, according to a post on the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department's official Twitter account.
A Fairfax County police officer first reported the fire at 12:41 p.m. Friday after seeing flames on the exterior of the home in the 13200 block of Peoner Place. County fire units responded to the scene. After extinguishing the exterior blaze, firefighters determined the fire had not spread into the interior of the townhouse.
Investigators linked the cause of the fire to an unattended fire pit. Damage to the home was estimated at $10,000. No injuries were reported.
