BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Students attending school in person this upcoming school year will receive free breakfast and lunch from Baltimore County Public Schools. Breakfast meals will be offered to students as they enter buildings and will then be eaten in classrooms, the school district explained. For lunch, students will go through the cafeteria line and choose an entrée, fruit and vegetable sides, and milk. Menus are posted on the BCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services website. Snack, a la carte and adult meal purchases will not be available at this time. "We are so pleased to be able to offer this service to BCPS students and families," BCPS Superintendent Dr. Darryl L. Williams said. "Since March 2020, this tireless team has served 2.9 million meals to BCPS students. They understand that ensuring that students are well-nourished is essential for wellbeing and academic progress." Patch has partnered with Feeding America to help raise awareness on behalf of the millions of Americans facing hunger. Feeding America, which supports 200 food banks across the country, estimates that in 2021, about 42 million Americans may not have enough nutritious food to eat due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This is a Patch social good project; Feeding America receives 100 percent of donations. Find out how you can donate in your community or find a food pantry near you.
