Description

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — Not only does a painting speak to us, it can inspire us to create something new from that conversation. This grand tradition of engaging with works of art is known in poetry as ekphrasis (the Greek ek for "out of" + phrasis for "expression"). This fall, join this adult creative writing workshop from Rutgers OSHER-Lifelong Learning Institute. This eight-week online-only workshop from Rutgers — led by Shelley Benaroya, a New Jersey poet/teaching artist and director of The Writing Center for Creative Aging — is open to writers at all stages of their career. Each workshop is two-hours long. Thursdays 10:00 a.m. - noon. September 9 – November 4 *no class on Sept. 16 Tuition: (eight Sessions) $80 Limited to 15 participants For more information or to register: https://ce-catalog.rutgers.edu/courseDisplay.cfm?schID=83718 or https://olliru.rutgers.edu/course-listing What better way to spend Thursday mornings this fall than in the company of inherently curious people? Join the creative conversation poets and writers have had with great works of art over the centuries. Through curated readings, discussions, in-class writing invitations and sharing of work, learn how to use art as a springboard for your own poems, stories and memoirs.
