Description
BETHEL, CT — A local kitten is down to just eight lives after being rescued from a storm drain by Bethel emergency workers on Friday.
The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department, Police Department, Animal Control, Dispatch and Public Works all collaborated to rescue an adventurous feline who found herself on the wrong side of a storm drain near Hidden Brook Trail.
With the unlucky cat caught in the pipeline between two storm drains, the mission of mercy shook out to be more than just a simple snatch-and-grab.
Undaunted, Officer Ditullio swapped out her uniform boots for rubber waders and took the plunge.
After a gentle flow of water from Engine 6's booster line was introduced for some additional persuasion, the kitten decided to abandon its perch in the pipeline. Once free of the pipe, she was scooped up and brought to safety.
Bethel Fire Department praised the combination of "Yankee ingenuity and strong teamwork from everyone involved!"
