AUSTIN, TX—In honor of National Thrift Store Day observed Aug. 17, the City of Austin and its Circular Economy Program is hosting and informational and collaborative workshop designed for local reuse and thrift stores and interested entrepreneurs. The virtual event welcomed Terry McDonald, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County, OR and Cascade Alliance. National Thrift Store Day Workshop: Retail Thrift will lend helpful insight on ways to grow a resale business by adding new business models. Scheduled, Tuesday, Aug. 24, Wednesday, Aug. 25 and Thursday, Aug. 26 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m., attendees will be able to connect online from the comfort of your home or office. Join in for a quick networking break-out, followed by a 45-minute workshop on the following topics: Retail Thrift, Aug. 24 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Learn how to increase merchandising sales, source new material streams, coordinate flow and staffing, and keep an eye out for pitfalls. Great for the entrepreneur looking to enter the industry, or for any young thrift businesses. Recycling and Beyond, Aug. 25 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Learn how to diversify your portfolio by adding unique upcycling opportunities, such as creating limited fashion line runs, handling single shoes, and integrating a glass foundry. Succeeding with Hard-to-Recycle Streams, Aug. 26 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Have a hard-to-recycle material you need advice with?
