SAUSALITO, CA — A suspicious package found Monday morning near a Marin fire station triggered evacuations, authorities said. The evacuation of Fire Station 1 at 333 Johnson St. and some adjacent buildings was lifted at around 12:25 p.m. after the incident was determined to be a "false alarm," Southern Marin fire Battalion Chief Jason Golden told Patch. A U.C. Berkeley Police Department bomb squad was a Marin County Hazardous Materials Response Team were summoned after the package was discovered at around 8 a.m., Golden said. "It was a false alarm," Golden told Patch. "We determined the package contained debris and rubbish." The incident is under investigation, Golden said. The evacuation was first reported by The Marin Independent Journal. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Chief Golden at (628) 214-8086. Law enforcement will be shutting down Johnson Street between Bridgeway and Calendonia.
