High: 86 Low: 54. Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: A crash involving two Galt police officers closed Highway 99 on Monday night. The officers were transported to the hospital with major injuries. The car they were in was involved in a head-on collision when a vehicle traveling on the other side of the freeway crashed through the median and collided with the officers. The driver of the other vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. (CBS Sacramento) A woman was killed in a shooting overnight Saturday night on Rio Linda Boulevard in Sacramento. When police arrived, they found a woman with at least one life-threatening injury. She was taken to the hospital where she later died. They have not released any suspect information. (CBS Sacramento) Colleges in the Los Rios system will not be allowing spectators at indoor sporting events until they find a way to make sure spectators are healthy or vaccinated. The district is looking into the possibility of streaming the events. Outdoor events will go on with spectators welcome. (ABC10) Sacramento County has its very own American Ninja Warrior. Folsom's Jose Gomez, engineer and owner of Citizen Vine, qualified to be on season 13 of the show. Deemed the "Bow Tie Ninja," Gomez was originally supposed to run the qualifier for season 12 in March, 2020, but with his run the next day, Universal shut down the studio due to the Coronavirus. No matter. A year later, and Gomez was at it again, this time qualifying for the semi-finals. (Folsom Telegraph)Three people have been arrested in connection with a homicide that occurred on July 12 inside a home on Occidental Drive near Great Falls Way. 19-year-old Rebecca May Rochelle Chaquies was found inside her home by her mother with critical injuries and she was later pronounced dead at the scene. Two suspects, 41-year-old Amy Hainta and 51-year-old Andrew Kearny, were arrested on Thursday in Sacramento and the third suspect,20-year-old Raymond Hainta, was arrested in Georgia on Friday. He remains in custody there. (FOX40) Monday's events in Sacramento The new East Village Bookshop in East Sacramento presents Storytime and Play for young children of all ages at the McKinley Park panhandle. Bring a picnic blanket or towel to sit on, and some water to drink. (11 am)Join the A Seat at the Table Books community to give blood and save a life. The bookstore owner's family has been in need of blood in the past, and she is asking the community to help her give back through this event. (1:30 pm)Kiki's Delivery Service is an animated movie that tells the story of a story of a young witch that sets out on a year long apprenticeship with her cat. She settles in a seaside city and starts a delivery service on her broom. Come along for the ride at the Tower Theater! (7 pm)Enjoy a beautiful Spring-like evening at Sutter Health Park where the River Cats will take on the Tacoma Rainiers.
