WILMINGTON, CA —Five people were critically injured in a three-car pileup that also involved a pedestrian in a crosswalk Monday morning in Wilmington. One person was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters. Paramedics were called to the scene in the 1000 block of North Wilmington Boulevard about 10:45 a.m., according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart. "One person reported to be trapped in a vehicle, requiring a 'door pop' extrication," Sterwart said. Paramedics rushed five people to nearby hospitals in critical condition. The cause of the crash remain under investigation.
