Offense(s)/Charge(s): Felony Possession of Methamphetamine Felony Possession of Cocaine Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Use or Sale of a Controlled Substance Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule III Controlled Substance (Buprenorphine Hydrochloride) Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Alprazolam) Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Misdemeanor Display Revoked Registration Plate Misdemeanor Operate Vehicle without Liability Insurance Location of Incident: Industrial Drive at Salisbury Highway, Statesville. Suspect(s): John Alexander Key, 35 Years Old General Delivery Statesville, North Carolina 28677 Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday, August 17, 2021 Deputy C. S. Little with the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Industrial Drive and Salisbury Highway due to the based on the vehicle's registration was revoked for having no insurance. Deputy Little spoke with the driver, John Alexander Key, and advised him of the violation. Deputy Little asked Key to walk back to his patrol car while he ran his information. After speaking further with Key and asking about any illegal substances, Deputy Little searched him. Key he was found in possession of a syringe, Alprazolam, Buprenorphine Hydrochloride, Crystal Methamphetamine, and Cocaine. Sergeant W.E. Line arrived to assist Deputy Little with the search of Key, and his vehicle. During the search of the vehicle additional cocaine was located, along with a glass smoking pipe. Key was arrested at the scene, then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of Cocaine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Use or Sale of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance (Buprenorphine Hydrochloride), Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Alprazolam), Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Display Revoked Registration Plate, and Misdemeanor Operate Vehicle Without Liability Insurance. John Alexander Key appeared before Magistrate R. Imes who issued a 20,000.00 dollar secured bond on those charges.
