Hazelnut Growers of Oregon – Sorter Job Summary Remove hazelnut defects and foreign materials so hazelnut products can meet quality standards. Responsibilities JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:  Visually identify defects in hazelnuts according to grade, color, and size.  Discards inferior or defective products and foreign matter from a conveyor belt.  Follows established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and safety policies while performing job duties.  Clean work area daily.  Follow all documented procedures.  Communicate quality issues and to management and QA personnel.  Other duties, responsibilities and/or tasks as assigned. Successful Candidates Will Have  Ability to read, write, and understand English. (Without an interpreter)  Ability to work in a team environment in a positive manner of respect, cooperation & flexibility.  Good work ethic and ability to work independently.  The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists  High school diploma or GED equivalent.  Prior food processing experience is preferred. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions  Able to lift 25 pounds repeatedly.  Ability to climb ladders.  Prolonged standing and repetitive bending.  Must be willing to work overtime as necessary.
