Foster a Cat

They say cats find you. In my case that's absolutely true! A year and a half ago, I found my cat, Pumpkin, as a stray on the street. He came right up to me and ever since then we have been pretty bonded. I tried relentlessly at first to find if he had an owner, to find a shelter for him, but it never worked out. It seems he was meant to be my cat. Nonetheless, I'm not in a great position to have a pet. Mainly, because I have to travel a lot in the next 2 years. However, cat boarding is more than I can afford. Moreover, I don't want to continuously leave in the hands of strangers. So, I'm advertising a rather unorthodox solution. To find him a "foster" parent and/or a "second home" in addition to mine. A loving aunt/uncle in other words. :) In this scenario, I'd like to find a somewhat regular schedule (every other month, for example) in which Pumpkin would live in his "second home" for around a month at a time. However, I'm open to ideas for this schedule. In that time, I would continue to cover all of his expenses. Food, toys, litter, supplies, and in the case of an unlikely emergency, vet appointments. Though Pumpkin has never had any accidents or caused any damage with me, I would also offer to cover part or all of the cost of any damage he might cause (i.e. if he pees on your carpet -- he has never had an accident though!) Finally, I would offer to cover all of the transportation (dropping him off and picking him up). I think this would suit someone best who doesn't already have a cat. Ideally, I would like to stay in contact with Pumpkin's "foster parent". I'd also like to have a few meet-and-greets to know if it will be a doable scenario. I believe it would a perfect scenario for a college student or someone who wants a pet, but can't afford to adopt one or take-on all of the responsibility.
