As recently as 2020 Trump made a capitulation agreement (a "deal") with the Taliban. According to Trumps own hand picked H.R. McMaster, Trump agreed to a cease fire with the terrorist organization. Trump tried to negotiate with irrational terrorists. These are the same terrorists who flew plan es into our World Trade Center and pentagon.
Trumps deal making skills did not pan out here.
