CARRYING THE TORCH: THE POWER OF NOW! Dedicated to honoring those who have continued to persevere and serve their community.. For the 10th year, The Torch of Wisdom Foundation's Honoring Local Heroes “Black No-Tie” Affair will recognize those who have persevered professionally or personally, in spite of the pandemic in the areas of Scholarship, Cultural Arts, and Community Enrichment. Additionally, a traditional part of our event is to highlight a local icon who has excelled in all three cornerstone initiatives. We celebrate these individuals and groups as they are "unsung heroes" in our community who like TOWF are committed to "Changing Tomorrow Today". Our honorary event chair is the Honorable Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence. Additionally, one of our evening's highlights will feature a special video message by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. This year's ICON Award recipient is Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Tickets are $75, (the tax-deductible amount is $40) and will be available until October 7, 2021.
