Press release from the Town of Dedham: 08/20/2021 11:02 AM The Town of Dedham hosted a topping off ceremony on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, with the project team and local elected officials and volunteers who have played major roles in the Public Safety Building Project. After construction began in December 2020, progress has been fast and with each passing week, the new building becomes more of a reality. Town staff and the project team gathered in March for a groundbreaking ceremony that aligned with other construction traditions, including ceremonial shovels and tossing fresh dirt into the air. The topping off ceremony was also traditional, and even included the tree atop the beam, drawing on an old Scandinavian tradition that honors the spirit of the trees often removed in construction projects.
