Description

Written by Mayor Ben Blake, Milford is currently under a Tropical Storm Warning. The storm will increase in intensity throughout the day with heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 60 MPH, a significant storm surge, and a very real potential for river and coastal flooding. Residents should monitor alerts and weather conditions, secure all outdoor objects susceptible to high winds, help to keep the tops of catch basins clear of leaves and debris, charge electronic devices, ensure an adequate supply of food and water, and prepare for the possibility of prolonged power outage. Conditions will deteriorate quickly throughout the day. Please limit all non-emergency travel after 10:00am. All Milford beaches will be closed today and tomorrow. It is especially important for shoreline residents to be vigilant. With expected flooding in areas of low elevation, please be sure to take all necessary precautions, including moving all vehicles to higher ground. Upon the conclusion of the storm, be mindful of downed wires and hanging tree limbs. Any downed wire should be treated as live and reported to the Milford Fire Department by calling 911. The American Red Cross will be coordinating local shelters. Residents in need of sheltering should call 877-287-3327. Thank you and please be safe.
