ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, NJ — Island Beach State Park is closing its mobile sport fishing access Saturday afternoon and closing completely on Sunday due to potential effects from Hurricane Henri. The state park announced the closures on its social media pages Saturday. "Beach conditions will be re-evaluated on Monday (8/23) after high tide," officials said. Henri was upgraded to a hurricane early Saturday by the National Weather Service. The effects in the Ocean County area are expected to be minor coastal flooding and heavy rain, with 2 to 3 inches anticipated. The winds offshore are continuing to cause rough surf and are creating a high risk for rip currents through Sunday, both of which can cause beach erosion.
