Press release from the City of Providence: 2021-07-06 PROVIDENCE, RI– The Providence Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) will conduct tests of the Port of Providence Emergency Siren Warning System (PPESWS) at noon on Thursday, July 8, 2021. The primary goal of these tests is to ensure proper functioning of the sirens and the system control panels associated with them.  These sirens may be audible in surrounding communities. The alert signal will be followed by the message: "This is a test of the emergency management public warning system.  This is only a test." This press release was produced by the City of Providence.
