Press release from the City Of Davis: August 20, 2021 2:03 pm Healthy Davis Together Test Sites Update - August 20, 2021 Back-to-School Season and Rise in Testing Spurs Testing Developments in Davis As back-to-school season begins and Davis students and staff return to campus, Healthy Davis Together is meeting the increased demand for testing. The Davis community is stepping up to get tested and help combat the spread of the Delta variant, and new locations and schedules will support this effort both for schools and the broader community. On Sunday, August 29, 2021, Healthy Davis Together will open a brand new high-capacity testing location at the Farm House at The Cannery which will increase the number of people that can be tested. Gift cards will be available for anyone who gets tested at The Cannery while supplies last. Davis Senior High School will continue to provide community testing, and will offer extended hours beginning Monday, August 23 in Richard Brunelle Performance Hall. In addition, The Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD) is partnering with Healthy Yolo Together to offer free, saliva-based testing to students and staff at more than a dozen schools within the district when school goes back into session beginning Wednesday, August 25. As UC Davis prepares to welcome students back to campus, the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts will return to regular university activities. The last day for testing at the Mondavi Center will be Saturday, August 28. The UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center, which has been providing testing to faculty, staff and students since September 2020, will provide limited community testing on campus beginning August 27. "The recent increase in regular testing among both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals is incredibly encouraging, and we're thrilled to be doing all we can to accommodate it," said Dr. Sheri Belafsky, medical director for Healthy Davis Together and director of the Medical Surveillance Program for UC Davis Health. "Getting vaccinated, following local guidance on mask wearing, and continuing to get tested regularly are critical to keeping our community safe and open as we welcome students back to Davis." Healthy Davis Together provides free, saliva-based testing up to twice a week. It is especially important to get tested if you are not vaccinated, have symptoms, or if you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Healthy Davis Together strongly encourages everyone 12 years and older in Yolo County to get vaccinated.
