I arrive early to cover my coworker’s shift. I saw you on the boardwalk. You were surrounded by friends. You were so beautiful in that white and black dress of yours. I was never an ice cream type of guy, but I watched you walk in and out of the creamery shop with unbridled happiness. The sun was starting to set. My eyes lingered. The moment felt tender.
Just for a change, I bought ice cream on my way home. It wasn’t great, but now it’s raining. I stare out my window. I finished it all. And
I couldn’t help but think of you.
