Description
a long, long time ago.
In the old west, the town marshal used to rely on the local citizens to form a posse when needed and generally provide backup.
But as police forces became bigger and bigger, a change occurred where police started seeing the citizens as suspects instead of resources that could be needed sometimes. It became an us vs them mentality and more and more police started abusing their power. You'd hear bad cops say things like "I am the law". Complete horseshit. Their job is to protect and serve. Period. They don't make the laws. They aren't judges. Just don't try to tell them that.
All of this has lead to the situation we're in right now where police feel completely comfortable murdering citizens in broad daylight right in front of the citizenry and daring the citizens to do something about it like in the George Floyd case. The ONLY reason they didn't get away with it is that The People are sick and tired of it and filmed the whole thing. Read the arrest report the cops involved wrote sometime. Nothing but lies.
Until police decide to clean out the racist assholes from within their own departments, nothing is going to change. The days of cops terrorizing The People is coming to an end.
