COVID - stress relief I teach breathing techniques, stretching, and both basic and complex movements, which assist in relaxation and mental focus. When a student is learning new and challenging techniques, then this training gives the student something positive to focus their attention on. Actively training, struggling, overcoming, and achieving something of personal value or worth allows you to even temporarily remove yourself from the stresses of daily life. Ideally the student continues to learn, develop, and incorporate these techniques into daily life and continue to benefit throughout their lifetime. All ages are welcomed - from 8 to 108. I’m a long time Kung Fu and Tai Chi student and teacher. I’ve been training for over 30 years. I mainly train in the Internal styles now, such as Chi Kung, Tai Chi, and PaKua. These styles are easier on the body, they focus on breathing and relaxation, encourage and promote flexibility, and naturally benefit every aspect of the students life. Additionally, through consistent practice the student will see improvements in balance and strength, and eventually will understand that many movements may be applied in martial/self defense situations. Why not practice Yoga? I like Yoga, and there are many benefits to practicing Yoga, but Yoga cannot provide the benefits that Tai Chi can provide. Movement and self defense. My Tai Chi form is 108 movements long, all performed in one long continuous movement, which after learning the complete form should take 60 minutes to complete. But each student starts at step 1, then through practice and commitment may one day complete the form, and then begin the process of self mastery…a lifelong journey that hopefully never ends. We will first focus on basic breathing, stretching, and movements. As your practice continues, and you see the improvements, then we can adapt your training to your needs.
