Where did summer go?

Description

Back in the day, we’d be finishing up sweet corn at the Birdseye factory and start repack from the bins to wind up the season. You drove a forklift, wearing your perky blue bump cap, plastered with Teamsters stickers. We met on the bean belt in June, both earning money to go to college. If I’d known how it would eventually go down, I’d have gone back to washing dishes at the Farrell’s ice cream parlor. The prep cook there had just opened the first computer store in Oregon and he’d asked me to come to his Byte Shop to check out something called an Apple II. Man, I would have run with that. If only I had possessed an inkling of foresight. It would be another decade before I bought my first PC and started my tech career.
