I am retired and just moved to Bristol from a town that had a couple of community big bands. I played guitar in one of them, and miss the music making and camaraderie. I have looked and don't see any similar opportunities here, so I thought I would explore the possibility of starting one. I am looking to exchange emails with persons who can play band instruments: sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass. You need not have pro level chops, just the ability to read a big band chart. I know that there are a lot of folks out there who have played band instruments at some time in their lives (e.g., in school) and would enjoy getting together and playing. I am not looking to be the conductor or boss of anything, or to direct the particular style of music. I *do* know of a source for free big band charts, and have some ideas about cheap rehearsal space. But the purpose of this ad is just to see if there is any interest out there.
